Are You Caught in the Wire?

The photo depicts a life size diorama of a World War I German solider cutting barbed wire. The display is from the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and is a perfect illustration of how we become tangled up and caught in the wire with the circumstances of life.

We are eight weeks into 2024. What circumstances have caught you in the barbed wire?

  • Is it a failed New Year’s resolution?
  • Is the leadership at work poor or absent?
  • Is your career on a different path than you imagined?

It is easy to become immersed in our circumstances and become focused solely on ourselves. When this happens, we neglect loved ones, those around us, and those we meet daily. We become distant, disconnected, and disgruntled. Squirming on our backs in the mud, we attempt to cut the wires that entangle us. There are people who fail at the task while others succeed and get out of the mess.

How about you? What circumstances or challenges have you tangled up? Are you willing to cut yourself free from the restrictive barbed wire that rips and shreds? If the answer is no, then what prevents you from moving forward? If the answer is yes, then what action steps are you going to take to free yourself from the tangled mess of barbed wire?

There are five weeks left in the first quarter of 2024 and the choice is yours: remain tangled up in the wire or cut yourself free. Not sure how to free yourself? Then reach out and let’s have a conversation: [email protected]
