This post continues the series based on comments made by Mark Cole, the CEO of the Maxwell Certified Leadership Team. Speaking at the International Maxwell Certification event held in Orlando, Florida, he said, “Be the one” and then he touched on eight topics, including, “Be the one that engages.”
What does that mean to me?
If you are a fan of the Star Trek television shows or movies, then no doubt you have heard characters from Captain Kirk to Captain Picard say, “Engage!” They used that command in a variety of contexts from attacking their enemies to simply applying warp power to the drive engines. In other words, take action and do it now!
- Are you engaged on the job, or do you sit back and let others do the work?
- Are you engaged with your family, or do you shirk your responsibilities to them?
- Are you engaged with the people who work for you, or do you hide behind the computer?
The opposite of engaged is disengaged, and the question you should ask is, “Which one do I prefer to be?”
